Changes to sims for season 2
I am looking to change a few things that have been brought up by a few GM's and that I feel need tweaking from season 1. These points are as follows.
Shots taken by players will be increased but goal scoring will be left as is. The thought is that with an increase in shooting the goal scoring may increase anyway.
Injuries will be increased. There were very few injuries that hit players through the season but this will monitored to make sure it doesn't get out of hand.
Goalie fatigue will be increased. It seemed far to easy for goalies to be super human (I'm looking at you Nabokov) so don't expect your number 1 to be able to play every game this season.
Waivers will be introduced as I had stated before so make sure you budget in a couple of scratches in case of injuries. Exact rules on all this will be posted shortly but younger players will be exempt.
I won't introduce penalties for teams going over budget but I would like everyone to have a go at managing this over the season by playing about with ticket prices. I would like everyone to have some experience with how it works before perhaps introducing penalties in season 3 if possible. I will be adding some money to everyones budget due to the fact that the original values were taking in to account a lower cap hit, hence the reason most teams ended up in the red.

Is there any way of changing the arena size, or are we stuck on 18000 each? Not that I could fill 18000 seats, but then I was charging about $40 dollars more per seat than anyone else!

Good question Leafy. I shall look into it, I believe I can and it would make sense to increase them a bit.
Re: Changes to sims for season 2
Could we scrap all debt and just start everyone at $0 ???
I mean when I came in my team was making a huge loss- but since ive been in charge I've actually turned a profit !!
So this doesn't really benefit me- since I am actually quite good at balancing the books but I am just thinking that perhaps because people were not aware when the whole thing started that money /budgets was going to be a major factor they be given a second chance?
Just a thought. if not never mind- works in my favour to keep the status quo hahaha

Also how can we designate two-way contracts? Do we just allot them at the beginning of the season (within the usual NHL regulation of course!) or are they already applied? I can't find them mentioned anywhere so am unsure of the status of existing contracts.

That was my intention Buffon. When we started there was a bank roll of about $10m per team if I remember right. I will increase that and basically reset it for each team so that we know where we all started in this.
On the case of two way contracts, the sim doesn't have a facility for that so the contracts are just as they are.

I'm a little unclear with the financial side. What happens if our club does make a huge loss?
And without 1/2-way contracts how are you going to control movements between farm and pro clubs?

I will confirm the exact numbers soon but I believe the process with waivers is that any players under a certain age can move freely or if they have played under a certain number of pro games. This should give you plenty of flexibility but also stop guys stacking their farm.

Re: Changes to sims for season 2
I have done some testing with how the waivers operate and these are the requirements. Basically any player under the age of 25 will be free to move about as they see fit. Once a player hits 25 and hits 10 games played in that season they then have to clear waivers to be moved.
So the requirements to have to clear waivers:
Over the age of 25
Played more than 10 games that season.
Remember 1 and 2 way contracts in the NHL don't determine waivers just simply how much the player gets when they play in the AHL. With this sim they get paid 10% of their full salary while in the farm.

Re: Changes to sims for season 2
As injuries are a bit of an experiment at the moment, I am going to be trying different settings through pre-season sims and because of this I will reset all injuries back to 0 so we have a fair level playing field for the regular season.
Also chances are that I will be increasing all players DU rating to 50 which was the minimum I was working from when creating the draftees. This will only affect players currently under 50. I will see how injuries affect these guys in preseason first before making the changes as we try to get a grasp on how much DU affects injuries.
