Rich Peverley last night
You have probably all seen this by now but for any that haven't a very scary incident last night happened that saw Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench. Watching the game it was hard to see what was going on, there was just a lot of stick tapping and screaming from the Stars bench and you could see someone get carried down the tunnel in a hurry. The arena fell deathly silent for a good 20 mins or so before word came down that a player was being treated and by process of elimination it became clear that player was Rich Peverley.
For those that don't know, he had an irregular heart beat during preseason that kept him out the first few weeks. This was treated for and the team has been monitoring ever since. The team announced last night that he was treated for a Cardiac event and had been taken to hospital conscious and aware of his surroundings. Both the Doctor and Ruff mentioned that the first thing he seemed worried about was how long left in the 1st and wanted to get back out there!
I wont link to a video of the event, for anyone who wants to see that it wont be hard to find but here is the press conference with the team and Doctors released by the Stars.

Thoughts with Rich and his family and kudos to Ruff and the medical staff for acting so efficiently. Also full marks to how Ralph and Razor handled this on the broadcast. There was no babbling and guessing at what was going on they just left it mostly silent and promised information as they got it. Only when it was clear it was a player and that the only one not on the ice did they mention the possibility of it being Peverley.

Scary stuff. I was watching the NHL Network's coverage of the Caps/Pens game when the goings on in Dallas started to filter through.
Hope Peverley makes a full recovery.

That was exactly what was running through my mind while waiting for an update on what was going on. Hoped I would never have to witness something like that again. Can't imagine what must be going through the minds of the rest of the team too. A few of them, Daley and Cole in particular it seemed, looked in or close to tears standing on the bench.

Update from Nill:
So glad to hear he is ok. Also Nill confirmed Alex Chiasson has not flown with the team to St Louis as he was very shaken by what happened and instead went to visit Peverley in hospital last night so the team has given him the game off.
"Rich Peverley is resting comfortably and being monitored at UT Southwestern St. Paul. He is currently undergoing testing to discover what triggered the cardiac event last night.
The focus of all the testing and monitoring is being dedicated to finding the cause of the event and a long-term solution to rectify the problem.
We do not have any more specifics at the moment.
Rich has been communicating with his teammates and friends. He is extremely grateful for all of the prayers and support that he’s received from fans and friends alike."- GM Jim Nill
The Dallas Stars will hold a press conference tomorrow, along with the UT Southwestern doctors, to give an update on the situation. Further details for the press conference will be disseminated later today.

Yep thats right he has been released with a monitoring vest until his procedure has been arranged. Whitney said he went in and started shaking hands but didn't get far before he was mobbed. Was more of a hug fest than anything haha. Awesome to see he is doing well.
