NHL 2013 draft, how did your team do?
In your opinion, how do you find your teams selections?
For the Stars we drafted the following.
1st Round
10th overall: Valeri Nichushkin LW/RW. Dynamo (KHL)
29th overall: Jason Dickinson LW/C. Guelph Storm (OHL)
2nd Round
40th overall: Remi Elie LW. London Knights (OHL)
54th overall: Philippe desrosiers G. Rimouski (QMJHL)
3rd Round
68th overall: Nicklas Hansson D. Rogle (SEL)
4th Round
101st overall: Nicholas Paul LW. Brampton (OHL)
5th Round
131st overall: Cole Ully LW. Kamloops (WHL)
149th overall: Matej Paulovic LW. Farejstad (SEL)
7th Round
182nd overall: Aleksi Makela D. Ilves (SM-Liiga)
Overall I am not sure on the heavy focus of LW as that is probably our last position of need but on Nichushkin I am downright giddy with excitement. I also like what I read about Desrosiers and Dickinson too. Not sure on the Elie pick as it seems a bit of a reach considering some of the names left on the board but I will wait and see I guess!
Now on to free agency where we might get some help up the middle.... hopefully.

Re: NHL 2013 draft, how did your team do?
The Blues didn't have much in the way of picks, quality rather than quantity that is, they then gave up 2x 3rds and a 4th to get a 2nd.
To be honest, I know very little about the kids we have drafted as I was more interested in whether we were moving bodies in or out. I think we ended up with a couple of d-men and a forward.
When I remember his name, I will keep an eye on the lad that cost us three picks...he better have been worth it - even if he was drafted 52nd.

Er not much to report really. The Bruins got a couple of Scandinavians, Chia gave Tyler a boot up the arse, Horton has decided he doesn't want to play for us, Ference wants to play for us but we can't afford him, and Tuukka will probably get a big fat contract. Pretty shit really.

Forgot about the draft. Seems we traded for another bottom 6 centre with a chunky cap hit.

Forgot about the draft when Mike Gillis walked in the room and made a clusterf**k out of the goalie situation in Vancouver

I've got no complaints about how Gillis handled the goalie situation.

1st Round
20th overall: A.Matha RW
2nd Round
48th overall: Z.Nastasiuk RW
58th overall: T.Bertuzzi LW
3rd Round
79th overall: M.Janmark-Nylen C
4th Round
109th overall: D.Pope LW
5th Round
139th overall: M.Wheaton D
6th Round
169th overall: M.McNulty D
7th Round
199th overall: H.Melen RW
Nice little mix of positions, and although there's no goalies, with Howard and Mrazek being still quite young, and Monster as a backup, I think we're OK for a while there.
Apparently we were after Matha from the start, and when San Jose wanted to trade their 20th pick for our 18th, we gambled it would come off OK. We received pick no 20 and pick no 58, in return for 18th. Worked out well. Matha was still available at 20, and we got a 2nd round pick for free.
Sharks must have really been hell-bent on getting Mueller to trade up 2 places, and give away a 2nd rounder to sweeten it.
