KHL loser playoffs Empty KHL loser playoffs

So the KHL is having a playoff style tournament for the teams that don't make the playoffs.....

Read about it here: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/khl-invents-playoff-losers-bracket-winner-gets-no-141549610--nhl.html

The end of that brings up an interesting point about potentially using a similar format to determine the draft order. Personally I would love to see that, at least over a lottery. Gives those teams at the bottom something to play for (rather than lose for) and could add a little excitement.

What do you guys think?

I like the idea, it gives teams that are close to the playoff bubble a chance to win to improve. However it might create a situation where teams struggling at the bottom never get a chance to rebuild.

There is something about watching a team celebrating "winning" the 1st overall pick that seems very wrong to me.

I would prefer something like, if you win the draft lottery your excluded from entering it for say 5 years. That would help stop teams tanking at the end of the season and encourage GM's to put some effort into their jobs.

I didn't mean all 14 teams that fail to make the playoffs, more this...

But if you’re someone that despises the draft lottery, or feels as though the No. 1 pick in the draft shouldn’t always go to the most futile team in the League … well then, a mini-tournament between the bottom four teams in the League for the chance to draft first overall has at least some appeal, doesn’t it?
