That's what the sign said! I'm working in the Rockaways area of New York, helping with the Hurricane Sandy relief effort. And I'm bloody knackered. Can't complain though. At least I can go back to a warm hotel room and have a hot shower.

Had a total wobbly lower lip moment today when a woman who has lost most of her possessions and who still doesn't have any power, said to me, "thank you for all you've done my dear, now please can I give you a hug"

The lads and lasses from the National Guard are amazing. I could never be that organized in a million years.

And if you want a carbon monoxide alarm, I've got a couple you can have.

I work on a multi-storey car park so it might be way too late to consider a carbon monoxide alarm.

Had one of those pesky language barrier problems too. People kept looking at me strangely when I said they could collect their torches. I think they were expecting the flaming ones usually seen in Indiana Jones films. I should have said 'flashlights'. Doh!

However, why do Americans think living in LA (earthquake central), Florida (hurricane central) or New York (pretty much a little bit of everything nasty central) is a wise idea?

The National Guard guys told me I had to eat this. Apparently it's delicious. I'm not convinced.



Heading home to Boston tomorrow. Hoping my replacement tyre hold out. Got a flat last night and had to get someone out to put my spare on (thank you Tony's Towing). Then had to drive round to El Toro Tires (recommended by Tony) to get a replacement. To say I was crapping myself would be an understatement. New York City drivers are even scarier than Boston drivers. And I'm staying just outside Manhattan so you can imagine what it was like.

I so badly want to try an MRE! Keep it and post it to me please
