Minny still have no depth. Suter is a one man show on their blue-line. Who else is there? Still work to do before they become a contender for me.

Re: Free Agency 2012
They finished 30th in goals scored last season. Parise should bolster that, and they will probably allow a few less, too.

Re: Free Agency 2012
Didn't Minnesota look unbeatable at the start of last season? The Koivu injury seemed to set them back. Adding Parise / Suter to that system in a relatively easy division they should coast to a play-off spot, particularly if they move some prospects to build around their mid aged core.

Re: Free Agency 2012
It wasn't about the money...........apparently. At least Whitney made it plainly clear he chose Dallas because we offered more than anyone else lol
Re: Free Agency 2012
Parise went to his childhood city , Suter yeah maybe there was more money but if he had the choice of Detroit or Minny after playing for Nashville maybe he didnt want to go to a divisional rival.
To me they have made a right decision both in a hockey sense and for personal finance sense.

Nothing wrong with taking the money. It's their profession after all.
Minny are starting from a long way back though so they're still to prove themselves as a play-off team - 2 players aren't suddenly going to transform their fortunes. Having said that having a top class first line d-man is a huge asset. The Ducks muddle along with a roster of 2nd and 3rd line defencemen and it isn't really working.

Re: Free Agency 2012
Have to say my Welsh eybrows raised themselves at those two moves.....
And as per usual, everyone in Leaf Nation wonders when Burke is going to enter the fray and pick up some leftovers, and then wait for him to say "this is who we wanted all along - he's going to add some size/speed/TRUCULENCE(!!!!) to our organisation!!!!!!"
Looking at all the Leafs news this morning, all they're talking about is who did what at prospect camp!!!!!!!!!!!! FFS this is starting to do my head in!

Re: Free Agency 2012
Well, looks like the Wings will be blooding a couple of rookies sooner than they'd like. Name Brendan Smith who was going to play a handful of games this year, is looking like the 5th Dman. Kronwall, White, Ericsson, Kindl, Smith and another is what Holland appears to be going with.
Unless we can pull someone out of a hat from dev camp, or trade for a decent Dman (let's face it, everyone knows we're desperate so will jack up their prices accordingly) then it's going to be all hands to the pump to help Jimmy Howard this year. No wonder we signed a better backup.
Some Wings fans suggesting we offer the mother of all contracts to Weber, but I doubt he would move, despite a Weber/Kronwall D pairing being enough to scare the crap out of most top line forwards.
