Free agency
We have refined the free agency signing as we have gone along and I feel it is about time I put up some guidelines on how we accept as GM's who haven't been through all this before are at a bit of a disadvantage in knowing what is likely to be accepted. So here are a few of the ground rules so to speak when signing free agents/extending contracts.
- Players aged 17-25 can sign no more than a 3 year deal. Players at this age are earning the larger parts of rerates and their rating can change quite drastically. As a result we want to keep the length of these deals to a minimum.
- Players aged 35+ can accept no deal that takes them past 40. Also in the even of two deals being offered the largest yearly value will take priority.
- Players aged 26-34 can accept a deal up to 8 years in length providing this does not take them past the age of 40.
- League minimum is $0.5m and maximum is $10m.
- Coaches being signed to a pro team must be offered a minimum of $2m.
- Coaches may be bought out at any time however the full value of their contract will be deducted from the teams bank balance.
- Coaches may be swapped between pro and farm however if the coach being promoted is on a contract lower than $2m then it will be increased to this minimum.
