RIP Derek Boogaard.
Absolutely awful news out this morning, Rangers tough guy Derek Boogaard has been found dead in his apartment, at only 28 years old.
I know Marc met Derek, who said he was a lovely guy.
RIP Derek, thoughts with all your family.

Is he the first active player since Bourdon to die? I can tell you, there are some disgusting trolls out there who will post all sorts of insulting comments about DB. It's hard to ignore them. I've already seen some supposed Rangers fans working out what to do with the cap space.

There probably the same guys who were hoping Chris Drury was on the wrong side of a horrific injury forcing him to retire

It's a damn shame. I never liked Boogaard on the ice, but he's always been a family and community man - people like that are few and far between.
Although everyone is saying 'don't jump to conclusions about the cause of death' (meaning his concussion), how must Matt Carkner be feeling right now? He must be crushed.

That's really sad news. It doesnt matter who you are on the ice, you play the great sport we all love. The world has lost one of the good guys. Thoughts are with his family, friends and teammates.

Azzy you took the words right out of my mouth....holy shit indeed, what a shock.
The people even thinking about how to use the cap space this soon after the news need their heads examined. Hockey is a sport/business/hobby whatever but this is someones life, they need a bit more respect really.

Re: RIP Derek Boogaard.
Do people not think before posting stuff like that? Everyone knows what the death of a player means from a teams perspective, it doesn't need to be said and the fact that it is the first thing in their minds is just a bit sad.
Anyways felt the need to post some of his best moments

I'll always remember the look of inbridled glee as Boogie hit that slapshot on a breakaway to score his only Rangers goal.
Those working out cap space are truly sick. The game is definitely poorer for Derek's absence.
