The Beef is getting cold Empty The Beef is getting cold

After enjoying a start to the season where nothing seemed to go wrong, the Beefs have started to falter of late despite the continued strong play of Captain Iginla. After putting up a league topping 17-6-0 the Beefs have since gone 1-2-2 with the lone win coming against a Penguins team that cannot seem to buy a win at the moment. Among those losses were a pair to the rival badgers who are on a tear 11-1-0 in their last 12 which has seen them storm back into contention for the Division/Conference/League lead. 'We must get this ship righted soon' said GM Homer.

The Beefs last night announced that they have made a move for Sergei Gonchar in a shock trade with the rival Buttercups which is pending authorisation. Gonchar should bring another booming shot for the powerplay if he can stay healthy and although it cost them the services of Dan Girardi who has been stellar in the farm this year, it shows the Beefs commitment to defending their crown.

The Baby Beefs by contrast have been very good of late going 4-1-1 in their last 6 to pull themselves up from the basement to knocking on the door of the playoff spots. Much of that can be credited to Sekera and Girardi who have dominated scoring from the back end while Comeau and McLeod have started to find their scoring touches. The goal tending has slacked off a little in the last 2 games allowing 9 goals compared to a tiny 2 goals in the previous 4 wins. Hopefully they can find that play back again to drag themselves into a spot for the playoffs.
