Buyout Bonanza
So it looks like teams are going to get two "compliance" buyouts with the new CBA. I've been looking at the Bruins thinking about who I would choose. Thomas is a lock after his ridiculous crap last season but I can't think of the other one. There are contracts I don't like but other than buying out and renegotiating I can't think of a clear cut second choice. Perhaps Savard but that can be put on LITR anyway.
Interested to see what you guys (and gals) think for your own teams, there are obvious choices but any time I've seen this discussion in the past there are some interesting suggestions.

Re: Buyout Bonanza
We don't really have any obvious candidates. Lehtonen has been mentioned a few times but I don't think that would be a good idea, it isn't like we are in need of cap room!
One thing I have seen suggested for the Stars is to get creative....for the teams that would like to buy out more than 2 they could trade us their mistakes along with picks/prospects so that we could buy them out! Will be interesting to see how we approach this.
Some people have suggested we buy out Jagr..... completely overlooking the fact that these are buyouts for 13/14 when Jagr doesn't even have a contract!

It would be pretty harsh to buy out injured players like savard and pronger, when their contracts are covered by insurance and long term IR

Most of our dump contracts finish this season anyway but 3 candidates would be Komisarek (4.5), Phaneuf (6.5) and Liles (3.9). Combined they hit the cap for just shy of $15m a year!

Rather than be allowed to buy the contracts, out. The teams should be forced to honour the contracts in full and then pay a $1m stupidity 'fine'on top....
Then again, maybe i'm just jealous that we have no-one to dump

That is because your team has been sensible driz!!!
Would like to see Komisarek bought out...... 4.5 million cap hit and the man can not defend. As for the other 'amnesty buyout' i can not really think of the other........... unless we trade for Loungo then buy him out!!!!

I don't know about that!!...This is the team that until recently had Paul Kariya $6m, Brad Boyes and Eric Brewer (both) $4.2m, on their books!!!
