Money wise fine but 3 years is a little long when question marks remain as to if he can keep up his play for that long. Apparently the reason he didn't stay with us was because we didn't want to offer more than 2.

In any case I am still sad to see him go. He might not be the big point guy he used to be but he still had a bomb of a shot and played the toughest minutes last year and was often a calming influence.

Steve Ott to the Sabres. Milan Lucic and Shawn Thornton are doing a best of three rock, paper, scissors to see who gets to beat the shit out of him first.

Jiri Hudler. Im happy with that

Sabres Bruins games will be interesting this year! Jack Russell will be loving that move lol.

I am absolutely loving our offence now, Joe has played this rebuild perfectly. I was hoping we wouldn't go the Oiler route (chuck all the youngsters in at the deep end) and allow most to develop another year or so in the AHL.

These are players that will only be around for 1-2 years by which time the kids should be ready to go not to mention they upgrade a lacking offence for the short term.

This off season makes our offence a lot deeper and plays certain players in positions they are more comfortable in!

I understand what you are saying mr Homer, but typically when I think of re-build I would not go out and sign two 40 year olds...... time will tell i suppose

They are on one and two year contracts... that's hardly preparing for the long run.

Beef is right, it's giving their young prospects time to mature while not being rushed.

Like Jonzee said, these are bridge contracts. Keeps the team some what competitive without rushing the kids. Pushing the kids into roles they are not ready for and fighting for 1st overall pick could be devastating in a city like Dallas where the Stars have to compete with the Cowboys, Rangers and Mavericks. Dallas like winners....sad but true.
