The Flaming ducks started the season with expectations of a lottery pick in next years draft. So far the team has continued to overachieve and once again find them selves sitting top of the league (although they have played more games then those below). It's not too often you see a team exceeding expectations make the kind of changes the Ducks made before the start of last nights games. Max Paciorety and Cam Fowler were both sent to the farm after slow starts to the season. When questioned, Jacques had the following to say: "We were a little concerned that we would upset the balance of the team, Cam has been solid defensively despite a low points total, and Max had shown signs of improvement, but with the ice time and PP time he was getting, we felt he was a little way below where we want him to be. Jamie Lundmark has been a real star for us on the 3rd line after being switched to the wing from centre and his offence has allowed us to replace max with Adam Lowry who was a pick in this years draft."
Early signs suggest the changes have paid off. Brent Burns had been paired up with Fowler previously, put up his best performance of the season playing alongside Ian White. Brent Burns has a hat trick in the Ducks win. Paciority got an assist for the ducklings in his first game on the farm, and playing alongside Cam Fowler, Ryan Parent also put up a hat trick for the Ducklings.
Club captain Burns spoke to the media after the game:
"Cam is a real talent, and he will get his time on this team soon. Playing with Ian though frees me up to go out and play my natural game. We both like to get in the offensive zone and get a few shots on net. Our PP had been struggling, but with the two of us together, were a real danger. The hat trick was great and for Ryan down on the farm to do it swell, its not often a dman does that, so to have two do it on the same night is exciting"

The Flaming Ducks now prepare for a home and home with division rivals Stevenage Beef. The Ducks have a 1-0-1 record against the beef this season with both teams scoring seven goals over the two games. Both teams goalies have been the stand out performers in each meeting, so expect it to be close. The Ducks can cement their place at the top of the division if results go their way.
