2011-12 Salary Cap Empty 2011-12 Salary Cap

Post by Azzy Luongo Mon Jun 20, 2011 6:13 pm

According to TSN, the Salary Cap will go up to c.$64m next season. That allows the Flyers to sign Bryzgalov without trading anyone; the Canucks to re-sign Ehrhoff AND Bieksa; the Blackhawks to add some more firepower; and the Rangers to give Richards $10m. Not so good for the likes of Florida, Columbus, Phoenix or Dallas!

How would you like your teams to spend their new-found cash?

The raise in cap won't affect The Blues. We won't be getting anywhere close to that. No money available, things are being done on the cheap.

In general, I think it stinks. I thought the salary cap was supposed to provide a level playing field. It appears that rather than punish the idiots who cant count or budget properly, its punishing those who are playing the game.

If for argument sakes, It was The Blues, Dallas and Florida that were struggling to keep within budget, do you think Bettman and co would make the same change....

I don't think so!!!!!!!!!

In a round about way it is good for Stars fans, not so much for the Stars owners. This means we HAVE to spend another $10 just to reach the floor. Will be interesting to see what Joe does with it.

Hey I will give them the $10 if they want (don't hold me to that- the exchange rate is dire at the moment)

I bet it doesn't happen now, just to piss me off some more. What will happen is Versteeg will be signed to a super long deal.

I feel genuinely sorry for you mate. It's the equivalent of the Canucks trading Burrows and Kesler, and getting Dean McAmmond + some picks in exchange Shocked
