First things first, that was an electric atmosphere. Nashville is embracing hockey!

Now, Weber. That is a plain dumbass move. I think he has to get a suspension. That has perhaps just given Detroit the series.

Really Marcy? They are chanting before the face-off. They cheer Gaustad winning the face-off. The noise in the final few seconds. The woots at the buzzer. Then there is a lull for a few seconds before some more loud synchronised chanting . Finished off with some more cheering. By Southern standards that was pretty good.

It was a great atmosphere, they made a lot of noise. Especially after the first goal with the chants of 'Howaaaaaaaaard YOU SUCK' lol

I still don't like Pred fans but they did create a pretty good atmosphere.

Zetterberg knew what he was doing. He swung round him, gave him a dig with the stick and waiting for Weber to react. He knew Weber wouldn't be able to resist. He took a couple and crumpled in a heap, rather than respond.

This is where Detroit are very smart. They know they can't go toe to toe with Nashville. They have to think outside the box. They may of lost this battle, but, if Weber gets 3 games, then they could have quite easily won themselves the war!

Granted, making him eat perspex is a little excessive... and Weber should get a ban, for it.

Thing is though Driz, that is what makes pests effective. Weber should know better than to react like that, it isn't a secret that often the retaliation is what gets called.

Couldn't believe this last night. The game was over, it was clearly a home win, so why on earth did Weber have to lash out like this?

Bad enough he tried to punch Z's head into the boards, but after he missed, he actively and purposefully grabs the back of his helmet and forces him face-first into the wall.

Call me bias if you will, but that's a pretty disgusting move, from someone who's touted to be the next Nick Lidstrom. Much more of this and he'll be remembered for his idiot aggressive actions, rather than his skill as a quality D-man.

Predators captain Shea Weber has been fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for delivering a blow to the head of Detroit Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg in Nashville's 3-2 victory Wednesday night to open their Western Conference playoff series.

Weber probably earns more than that in the time it takes him to sneeze.

Waste of time in even fining him. If there was nothing, then fine, the league thought it was OK, and it's open season on head banging.

If the league fine him and suspend him then fine, it's being stamped out right now. Nobody wants to do this which lead to suspensions during the post-season.

But to fine him a tiny amount? That's like saying 'What Weber did was wrong, so we're fining him, but we really don't care enough to punish him properly'.

That's the maximum fine.....they really need to address that in the new CBA because like you said he probably earns that per shift!

Awesome idea!

Can't remember where I read it, but someone did the math(s) and worked out that if a person on the national average wage had been given an equivalent fine it would have been $16. So yeah, it's a bit pathetic.

Assuming he plays every game of the season (and isn't suspended) he earns that amount of money about 1min40secs into a game!
